It is not very often I come across a story that is so pointless it defies any type of journalism and hits the realm of "filler". It is no surprise the media has been dumbing us down - but when I read stories like this one, "Hoquiam pizza driver scammed by kid at vacant home" - I can't help but whimper a little bit.
Is this really that important? I would like to think there are other pressing issues right now like the economy, the wars we are waging, natural disasters, DADT (Don't Ask Don't Tell), and the Republican agenda to take back the Government (which will, of course effectively kill us all).Pizza scams happen nearly every day - I myself enjoy sending dozens of them to my many enemies - and this has got to be the worst thing I have ever read in any publication.
This story is not only an embarrassment to the fine staff over at the Seattle PI (and KBKW), but also the unknown driver and pizza establishment that were hit with the old "my mom is in the shower and will pay you in a little bit, even though this is an empty house". Every service person should know you get the money up front - it is a time tested method from the World's oldest profession (prostituting) to ensure thievery doesn't take place.
This is one of those stories that just might be the reason the print media is in a nose dive - and maybe they should have written about that, instead.
